FCoV-19 VAC (COVID-19 Vaccine for cats and dogs)

Background

COVID-19

Since November 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged countries around the world.
Still now, the world is undergoing a major transformation.
The pandemic will continue to occur, and in this situation, ‘vaccine’ helps you overcome
the crisis by ‘preventing the disease’ and ‘reducing the severity of clinical symptoms’.

COVID-19 Infection of Animals

COVID-19 is a ‘Zoonotic Disease’. This means that animals are susceptible to infection and
they can spread infection to other animals. There are hundreds of confirmed animal
cases of COVID-19 infection around the world, including numerous companion animal cases.
Companion animals sick with the virus that causes COVID-19 may have symptoms of fever,
coughing, difficulty breathing, lethargy, and the symptoms may vary depending on the
animals, ranging from no symptoms to death or development of severe complications.

Mutations in SARS-CoV-2

SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of COVID-19, has been changing continuously.
Some of these changes may affect properties of the virus, including its transmission and
disease severity. Especially, interspecies transmission of the virus generates the
the potential for the acceleration of viral evolution. In this aspect, the most important
thing is ‘prevention of COVID-19’, to prevent the mutation.

Necessity of COVID-19 Vaccination for Companion animals

  • 1Prevention of COVID-19 in companion animals
  • 2Reduction of the severity of clinical symptoms & complications developed by COVID-19
  • 3Perspective of ‘One-Health’ : Minimization of the potential for SARS-CoV-2 mutation generated by interspecies transmission

CTCVAC developed
‘FCoV-19 VAC’, the COVID-19
vaccine for companion animals.
